Spurs v Real Madrid: Visitors Hold the Value for Wednesday’s Tie

Tottenham Hotspur continue to impress in this season’s Champions League and at the half way point in the group stages, they are locked on points at the top of the table with Real Madrid. Two weeks ago the sides produced a classic 1-1 draw in Spain and as we approach Wednesday night’s return, there is value right across the result market.

Match Odds

Odds against prices are available for all three outcomes with Real Madrid the favourites at best odds of 15/13 with Unibet and 888Sport. Victory for Tottenham comes next at a top price of 12/5 with SportingBet while the draw completes things at a best of 3/1 with William Hill.

There will certainly be some interest in the draw at that figure, particularly when you recall that the teams couldn’t be split in Madrid a fortnight ago. Spurs contested well and could have won it but the comparative strengths of the squads, coupled with the probable absence of Harry Kane makes Real a good option at that 15/13 price.

Individual Goal Scorers

Harry Kane hasn’t definitely been ruled out at the time of writing but there must be serious doubts over his participation having missed the Manchester United game at the weekend with a hamstring injury. The striker is listed in the first goal scorer markets at a best of 4/1 with Unibet and 888Sport but naturally you should check news updates before parting with any money.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the favourite here at a top price of 7/2 with Unibet and 888Sport while Tottenham’s Fernando Llorente is just behind Kane and as a more likely starter his price of 6/1 with Unibet and 888Sport once again is a strong one. Karim Benzema follows for Madrid at best odds of 6/1 with Unibet while Borja Mayoral is slightly further back at a top price of 13/2 with Coral and SportingBet.

Dele Alli is available again for Spurs having served a European ban and he may be a good option here at a tempting best price of 17/2 with 888Sport or, you can take the England midfielder at a best of 5/2 with BetFred for an anytime goal. Also in the anytime market is Christian Eriksen who takes Spurs’ set pieces and has a good scoring record from midfield. The Dane will therefore get some attention at a best of 4/1 with Unibet for a goal in 90 minutes.

Other Side Bets

We are expecting goals in this game but the Both Teams to Score Bet at best odds of 7/15 with 10Bet may just be a little too short. In fact, the ‘no’ option at 37/19 could be more tempting and once again, this is a bet that may depend on the situation with Harry Kane.

Spurs’ manager Mauricio Pochettino has argued that his side are not a one-man team and that is true to an extent with goals coming from Son Heung-Min, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen on a regular basis. However, they are certainly a more potent unit with Kane in the side and 7/15 really is very short.

This was underlined when Tottenham drew a blank in their tough fixture at Manchester United so we’ll add that 37/19 on Both Teams NOT to Score to our list of tips.

Correct Score betting can be a lucrative, if tough market but it’s always a good option if you’re looking for a smaller punt. In keeping with our assessment of the game so far, the standout price for us is a scoreline of Spurs 0 Real Madrid 2 which is on offer at excellent best odds of 16/1 with Winner Sports.

There are some enhanced odds deals coming through for new customers to certain bookies but for most of us, the value is already here in the standard markets. Spurs played extremely well in Madrid but without Harry Kane they do lack potency and it seems all set up for the visitors to come away with the points.

Best Bets:

  • Real Madrid to win at 15/13 with Unibet
  • Both Teams NOT to Score at 37/19 with Unibet
  • Correct Score of Spurs 0 Real Madrid 2 at 16/1 with Winner Sports
