If Cristiano Ronaldo had chosen to stay at Real Madrid then chances are that Karim Benzema would have already left the Bernabeu. The French striker has been linked with a move away from his present club for some time now and those rumours persist at the start of the 2018/19 season.

There is a restricted set of player transfer odds on Benzema’s next club but with a deal looking increasingly likely, this could be a good time to get involved with them.

Linked Clubs

Unlike some players who are rumoured to be available for transfer, there is no underlying theme to Benzema’s supposed availability and he has been linked with clubs all over the world. Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Chelsea and Inter Milan have all been mentioned in the media while other reports suggest that the striker is set to follow former team mate Ronaldo with a switch to Juventus.

This could, therefore, be one of the tougher calls but what do the football player transfer odds markets make of it all?

The Favourites

After five goals in 11 games at the start of the 2018/19 season, it seems that some Real Madrid fans are blaming Karim Benzema for their mixed start to the campaign. With boos ringing out around the Bernabeu recently, it seems as though now is the time for the player to move on.

That doesn’t make our task any easier but it does suggest there is some serious value in this market because, 888Sport have Karim Benzema down as a 2/13 chance to stay at Real Madrid beyond the summer window of 2019. Based on what we are seeing among supporters, that seems to be the least likely option of them all.

As for other clubs, Arsenal are the favourites for the player’s signature at 13/2 while Paris Saint-Germain are close behind at 7/1. The transfer odds market then starts to move out with Manchester United available at 16/1 while Chelsea and Monaco are both available at 20/1.

Already there are some interesting possible destinations here and while they haven’t been widely spoken of, both Chelsea and Monaco could have vacancies in the striking department by the end of the current season.

Outside Options

Bayern Munich, who have been linked with Benzema via various sources, are on offer at 25/1 and then it’s the turn of Manchester City at 30/1. Three teams are listed at 50/1 and they are Liverpool, Juventus and LA Galaxy and they could be tempters as well.

Finally, bringing up the rear of the latest football transfer odds markets are the Russian pair of CSKA Moscow and LA Galaxy at 100/1 and like all of the odds on this list, they come from 888Sport.

Those are the options but who needs the player and, more importantly, who can afford him?

Verdict

Karim Benzema
Karim Benzema

Karim Benzema will be 31 by the end of 2018 but it doesn’t seem as though he’s ready to see out his retirement in the MLS just yet. For that reason, we can probably rule out LA Galaxy plus any side in Russia or China that might come along. Any of those sides could offer a huge payday but the Frenchman has a point to prove and still he has a lot to offer a big club in one of the major European leagues.

Juventus are a club that’s been widely linked with the player but with Cristiano Ronaldo firing in the goals since moving from Spain, would Benzema really fit in a side that carries plenty of firepower besides his former Real team mate?

Moving further down the list there are two names that interest us and they are Chelsea and Monaco. A move back to a player’s home country could always be appealing and Monaco, while they are a cash rich club in their own right, seem to be a selling club too and the case of Kylian Mbappe is a good example here. The player rose through the ranks as a youngster but, the greater pull of Paris Saint-Germain saw him head for the capital.

Monaco moved to replace him but Karim Benzema looks a decent option to join up in the future and 20/1 in the soccer transfer odds is a tempting price.

Then we have Chelsea, a team whose patience in their misfiring striker Alvaro Morata seems to be running out. The West London side have never adequately replaced Diego Costa and while Eden Hazard is scoring regularly from midfield, the signing of an out-and-out striker could be the final piece in the Chelsea jigsaw that gets them back to the top of the Premier League.

It’s a punt of course but those pieces all fit and at 20/1 in the latest football transfer odds betting, Karim Benzema to Chelsea is a seriously generous option.
